Dr. Wright has active interest in minimally invasive surgery of the head and neck. He has experience with minimally invasive thyroid, parathyroid and vagal nerve stimulator implantation surgery, among others. He is a leader in the application of robotic surgery techniques to head and neck, endocrine, and vagal nerve surgery. This approach avoids any incision in the neck.

Dr. Wright is also actively involved in research. Ongoing projects include basic science research on malignant melanoma, salivary gland cancer and squamous cancer of the head and neck. In addition, clinical research includes management of chronic sinusitis. Dr. Wright most recently presented his chemical cautery research at the 2004 Southern Section Otolaryngology Meeting. Dr. Wright is also a scientific reviewer for "The Laryngoscope," a core academic otolaryngology journal.
